Employee Spotlight: Getting to Know Our Designer – Brian Malone

Brian Malone

Brian Malone has been with ThermoGenesis for 17 years and is currently serving in a role as a Designer. For him, the most rewarding part of his job is hearing the stories of patients who have been able to recover from debilitating diseases thanks to the cell therapy technology that he helps create.

We asked Brian a few questions about his time at ThermoGenesis and are excited to share his story and perspective on the mission of our company with you!

During Your Time With ThermoGenesis, What Has Been Your Most Memorable Moment?

There is no specific moment that comes to mind, but it’s always rewarding to hear stories of patients whose lives have been positively impacted by the equipment I’ve helped create. People experiencing recoveries or cures from diseases thanks to our technology is one of the greatest things about being at ThermoGenesis.

What Drew You to the Opportunity to Work With ThermoGenesis?

I was drawn to the company’s innovation. At the time, ThermoGenesis was developing technology for cell storage in liquid nitrogen and blood protein separation using thermal fractionation. This was a process that I wanted to be a part of.

When You Tell People About Your Job, What’s One Thing That Surprises Them or Gets Them Excited About the Work You Do?

They are often surprised to learn a relatively small company in Rancho Cordova, California has been quietly developing cell separation and storage technology, and impacting millions of people around the world.

ThermoGenesis’ mission is to ensure the future benefit of cell and gene therapy to everyone in need through reduction of drug manufacturing cost and increased patient accessibility. What are your thoughts on the CDMO company’s mission?

Improving accessibility to medical treatments is a big factor in what makes working at ThermoGenesis nice. We create and develop technology using stem cell separations and blood components to improve patient therapies and we get to help so many people.

Where Do You See ThermoGenesis in the Next 35 Years?

In 35 years, I see ThermoGenesis promoting and developing CAR-T therapies along with stem cell separation and storage, and continuing to positively impact the lives of as many people as possible.
